Purim is March 16 - 17 ... here's a few events and resources to help you celebrate!

Purim commemorates the tale of Queen Esther and her cousin Mordechai saving the Jewish people from the plot of the evil Haman to kill them!  On the holiday, the story, told in the Megillah - the Scroll of Esther - is often read or depicted with humor and parody, with participants encouraged to blot out the name Haman with the sound of groggers (noisemakers) and "boo-ing."  The holiday also includes traditions of sending gifts to friends (Mishloach Manot), gifts to the poor (Matanot l'Evyonim), as well as participating in a joyous meal, and dressing up in costumes.
