Purim Cookie Decorating
March 13th, 6:00–8:30 pm at NSCI

We had so much fun decorating cookies for Hanukkah that we’ve asked Jamie Hadden of One Happy Cookie Bakeshop to walk us through decorating cookies with a Purim theme! The cost is $40 and that will include a light supper and all of the supplies to create four beautifully designed cookies. Click here to register.

 

Shabbat Morning Minyan + Brunch: Guest Speaker Rabbi Liz P. G. Hirsch

We are excited to welcome Rabbi Liz P. G. Hirsch, Women of Reform Judaism Executive Director, as our guest speaker. Rabbi Hirsch will lead the week’s Torah study and will be with us for the morning service and for a brunch hosted by WNSCI following the service. Please join us. All are welcome! Rabbi Liz P. G. Hirsch (she/her) is the Executive Director of Women of Reform Judaism, a role she has held since July 2023. She serves on the National Council of Jewish Women’s Rabbis for Repro Rabbinic Advisory Council. She was a key faith leader in the 2020 campaign to pass the ROE Act, safeguarding reproductive rights and abortion access in Massachusetts. Hirsch writes frequently on social justice, spiritual practice, and trends in Jewish life. Her writing can be found at www.lizpghirsch.com. Rabbi Hirsch lives in Western Massachusetts with her husband, Rabbi Neil P. G. Hirsch, and their two children.

 

Songs of Our Seder
Led by Cantor Susie Lewis Friedman
April 17th, 6:00–7:30 pm at NSCI

We will sing familiar Seder songs and enjoy hearing the variants of those songs from other Jewish traditions. We encourage you to bring a guest! Light refreshments will be served.

In the feast of Passover, we are reminded that we must open our homes to strangers and feed the hungry. Please bring food donations for Moraine Township Food Pantry. Items needed: cereals, canned tuna and chicken, jam and preserves, pasta sauce, condiments (mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, etc.), crackers, granola bars, pancake mix, brown and white rice, instant coffee, tea and hot chocolate.

Join us in NSCI for fun and friendly games of Mah Jongg. Beginners and the “just curious” are welcome. There’s no betting allowed, just a voluntary contribution to our Tzedakah Box!

The History of WNSCI with Merle Branner

The Ruthie & Bill Katz Archives Archivist, Merle Branner, presented the History of Sisterhood/Women of NSCI from the founding in 1925 up to the present day and the impact the organization has had on NSCI and the North Shore community. She will also discuss the mission of the Archives and our extensive collection.
