FAMILY ENGAGEMENT
At NSCI, we embrace the whole family. Our educational opportunities reach far beyond the traditional model of Sunday School or Hebrew education. We invite family participation in community programs that celebrate artistic, culinary, cultural, and religious aspects. From Shabbat celebrations by grade to intergenerational holiday cooking classes to tikkun olam (volunteer work), here are some of our most popular events:
- Karaoke Shabbat: attend Friday night services together in Perlman Sanctuary followed by family dinner and kids Karaoke
- Operation Backpack: as a family, organize supplies for an entire classroom of students at a Waukegan school
- Festive Purim treats: kids join parents to learn how to make hamantaschen, popcorn balls, and cookies together
There are many great opportunities for families throughout the year that integrate Judaic knowledge and insight as we inspire our young students to deepen their awareness of the significant role each person plays in our community. Come join in.
