Family Promise at nsci June 4-18, 2023
For 8 years, NSCI has partnered with Family Promise Chicago North Shore, an Evanston-based coalition of interfaith houses of worship that care for and house families who are experiencing homelessness. These families are like ours. Circumstances have just brought them to a point of financial crisis and they have become homeless. We are so grateful to all of you who have supported this initiative in the past, and of course, welcome new volunteers this year! We will be hosting families overnight at NSCI for two consecutive weeks in June 2023. There are many ways for you and your family to participate behind-the-scenes or in person to make our guest families feel comfortable and welcome:
- Drop off breakfast food for 2 days (fresh fruit, frozen waffles, syrup)
- Drop off items for a healthy lunch to go for 2 days (bread, lunch meat, cheese, single-serve chips, apples)
- Provide dinner (homemade or store-bought) for 5-10 people and enjoy dining together with our guests
- Dinner volunteers are encouraged to stay and play with the children outside, weather permitting
- Drop off gift cards for Target or Walmart
