Adult Mitzvah Corps
PURPOSE
Adult Mitzvah Corps is a group of NSCI congregants that get together to volunteer with a charitable organization one weekday a month, and plan an activity that is needed for that organization. Adult Mitzvah Corps has been helping others for 18 years!
WHO WE SERVE
Some of the organizations we have volunteered with include: The ARK, JCFS (Jewish Child; Family Services), CJE (formerly Council for Jewish Elderly), Chicago Chesed Fund, Friedman Place, Refugee One, Cradles to Crayons. We have organized food pantries, served Shabbat lunches, prepared apartments for incoming refugee families, sorted through donated clothing, shopped for winter wear for JCFS clients, packed backpacks for needy school children, matched presents with JCES clients for their Holiday Gift Drive, baked with Adult Day Services clients (a day program for those with Alzheimers), served lunches to Holocaust survivors, escorted nursing home residents to Shabbat services, and more.
