Rabbi Greene and Cantor Wolman will share their top 10 ideas for lifting up High Holy Day meaning, connection, and joy for parents and grandparents of preschool through teenage children – ideas accessible for us all!

For 35 years, NSCI’s Feed the Homeless program has helped to feed thousands of people around Chicago. We provide 1,000 hot meals and brown bag lunches monthly. Volunteer one Sunday a month for hot food prep and brown bag lunches! Families are welcome! 

Join Rabbi Geffen in studying a selection of the most well-known or important sugiyot (talmudic discussions) scattered throughout a variety of talmudic tractates that are specifically linked to the High Holy Days. No experience necessary. Texts will be provided.

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together and filling in the cracks with gold—a metaphor for embracing our flaws and imperfections. Led by Steve Jensen, Academy Kintsugi certified instructor, we will each learn and try our hand at the art of Kintsugi. Each participant will create their own tile piece. Rabbi Greene will lead us in study and conversation about the themes of this period on the Jewish calendar and how they dovetail with this creative work. As we approach the new year, we engage in self-reflection to see where and how we want to repair and grow. We look to make change, we explore our imperfections. Space is limited. NSCI is proud to host a solidarity mission to Israel this December. Join us for an informational meeting to learn more about this important trip. We’ll journey with Rabbi Greene for seven days and bear witness to the resilience of the Israeli spirit. We will see and hear firsthand experiences of Israelis during the war; volunteer to pick fruit and vegetables or where else we are needed; take in Israeli cultural response and history; and celebrate Shabbat with an Israeli Progressive (Reform) congregation. Families Anonymous is a Twelve Step Program for people concerned about drug/alcohol abuse and behavioral problems of a relative. Please park in the south parking lot. Do you struggle with addiction? Do you want or need support? Typically hosted at North Shore Congregation Israel, these weekly meetings will be held online in a closed session until further notice. AA is an anonymous Twelve Step Program for people who struggle with alcohol or other substances. Please park in the south parking lot.
