Purim is for everyone—not just kids! Experience the joy of the holiday with fun events at NSCI and activities you can do on your own time. Beginning March 13th, enjoy a week’s worth of activities leading up to Purim, which begins the evening of Saturday, March 23rd and ends at sundown on Sunday, March 24th. Whether you join us for a carnival, cookie decorating, a class with Rabbi Leizman, or a comedy cabaret, there’s something for everyone. Did we mention a raffle prize?

How to Enter the Raffle
1) Complete one activity from each category (or add your own!).
2) Submit this form to let us know which activities you completed, and you’ll be entered into the raffle.
3) Three winners will be chosen and announced at the Purim Comedy Cabaret on March 22nd (you don’t need to attend to be part of the raffle).
Submissions are due by March 21st at 12 noon. Let the Purim challenge begin!

Purim Kindness & Creativity: Mishloach Manot Workshop
Sunday, March 17th, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, at NSCI
On Purim, we have a tradition of bringing mishloach manot, gifts of sweets, to friends, family, and members of our community. Please join us to make exquisite Purim cards with Cori Levinson from 10:00 to 11:00 am and make delicious hamantaschen with Pam Faulkner from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. We will then package our creations and members of our Hands of Chesed team will deliver the packages to members of our community who are elderly or don’t get out as much and who would appreciate the connection to our NSCI community. Queen Vashti’s Tiyul: Storybook Walk
March 15th–22nd at NSCI
Walk through the pages of the book Queen Vashti's Comfy Pants and enjoy this humorous feminist spin on the Purim story where Vashti stands up for herself and shows the value of her own worth.
Purim Carnival
Sunday, March 17th, 10:05–11:00 am, at NSCI
Parents and grandparents are welcome to accompany their preschool, Kindergarten, and first-grade student(s)
Celebrate Purim at NSCI and make your graggers roar! Join us for singing, a Purim play, a costume parade, and enjoy Purim games. If you do not have a child enrolled in religious school at the GCJE, please click here to register.

Mishloach Manot Packing for The ARK
Thursday, March 21st, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm

Join the Adult Mitzvah Corps to create Mishloach Manot for individuals visiting The Ark, traditional Purim baskets that you give to friends, family, and those in need The ARK's mission is to create a safety net for Chicagoland Jews in need by providing vital human services within a framework of Jewish values and laws.
