HHD Accessibility
Accessibility
At NSCI, we strive to create an environment in which anyone who participates is not only welcomed, but feels seen and known. Based on the foundational assumptions that all humans have innate dignity and deserve respect, we work to ensure that all our High Holy Day services and programs, in addition to all activities throughout the year, are as inclusive and accessible as possible. We encourage everyone to do what they need to feel comfortable, including utilizing alternative spaces if they should choose to step away from services at any point. The Rosenthal Family Gathering Place, located down the Arcade when you make a right out of the Large Sanctuary, is always available as a space to relax, and services will also be streamed there.
ACCESSIBLE SEATING
A designated accessible seating area, along with additional seats for family and guests, will be available at all services for those members who require assistance. Specific seats will not be pre-assigned.
AUDIO OR VISUAL AIDS
Hearing loops have been installed in the Large and Perlman Sanctuaries as well as in Frank Memorial and Rebecca K. Crown Social Halls. If you wear a hearing aid with a manually controlled telecoil or t-coil, you will be able to hear very clearly. We also have a limited number of personal hearing amplification devices. Please be sure to sit in the fixed seats in the Large Sanctuary in order to access the loop. Large print prayer books are available at our adult services and printed sermon transcripts will be available at each service. Ask an usher for assistance.
DROP OFF AND PARKING FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
Congregants driving people with disabilities should request a Drop Off Pass, here, or call the synagogue office. This pass will be displayed in the front window of their vehicle and will allow entrance to the center circle for drop-off and pick-up purposes only, as well as parking in a designated area. Accessible parking will be available in both the North and South parking lots. Wheelchair assistance will be available at the front entrances for your convenience. Please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of services so that you may be seated.
NEURODIVERSITY
We warmly welcome neurodivergent individuals and their families to all our services and programs. Please be aware that some neurodivergent individuals may occasionally make movements or vocalizations. We encourage all congregants to join us in helping everyone feel welcome and accepted, creating an
accommodating space for all.
CARING FOR OR NURSING AN INFANT
Comfortable seating and a private space are available in the Vera and Abe Cohen Family Room, located next to Perlman Sanctuary.
