Major Schechter will be speaking during Kabbalat Shabbat services on Friday, November 8th, at 6:15 pm and teaching at Shabbat services on Saturday, November 9th, at 9:30 am.  Major Sarah D. Schechter, a Reform rabbi, is the first and only female rabbi to have served in the United States Air Force. Major Schechter recently retired from active duty after 20 years of service. During her military career, Major Schechter ministered to military members and their families throughout the world. She deployed seven times to Iraq, Qatar, and Kuwait in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and New Dawn. She also led teams in providing 36,000 Afghan evacuees with religious accommodation during Operation Allies Refuge/Welcome.
