This program looks at Israel and the American Jewish community through the lens of trauma. Just as patients in therapy revisit their personal stories of trauma through the understanding of fight, flight, freeze, and fawn (including creative strategies but sometimes pathologies), the collective story of Israelis and American Jews is not so different. This is an opportunity to discuss what connects us and yet what divides us.

Rabbi Rich Kirschen is a Jerusalem-based American Israeli psychotherapist. A keen observer of Israel, Rich lectures both in Israel and abroad, offering a unique perspective into the psychological underpinnings of Israel and Israelis.
