7th Grade

7th grade students come to school on Tuesdays 4:15-6:15 for “Becoming a Jewish Adult.”  Everyone is together for the first class and then there’s a short break with snacks.  After, the 7th graders attend their selected second hour course.  Second hour they choose from one of the following:  Ethical Judaism or Visual Arts Studio

Monthly, our students participate in either Rosh Chodesh or Shevat Achim, courses designed to combine exploration of teen issues with Jewish sources and community building taught by our rabbis or youth group advisors.

So, you’re a Jewish adult…now what? (1st hour class:  Everyone):  You’re learning your prayers, practicing your Torah and writing speeches. But what comes next? What does it actually mean to be a Jewish adult and what responsibility comes along with that? Join us as we explore Jewish identity—what does it look like for others and how do I find and define it for myself? In addition to identity formation, this course includes discussions about modern day anti-Semitism and an in depth look at the Holocaust from a uniquely Jewish perspective.

Private tutoring and other B’nei Mitzvah preparation meetings begin 6-12 months before their B’nei Mitzvah as well. For more details about the B’nei Mitzvah preparation, please click here.
