NSCI’s Annual Back-to-School Mitzvah Event

For more than 20 years NSCI has provided 500+ students from Chicago’s Jordan Community School with all of the pencils, notebooks, folders, and other school supplies they need to thrive in the classroom each year. In recent years, we have also helped bring Jordan’s students to mind-opening opportunities at the Field Museum, Lyric Opera, Shedd Aquarium, and other nearby cultural landmarks.
Our congregation’s relationship with Jordan Community School is sustained by the many donors and volunteers who have supported NSCI’s Operation Backpack program. We cannot purchase the school supplies or provide enrichment opportunities without your support, especially as the cost of school supplies continues to rise.

A donation of $36 can provide a year’s worth of school supplies and increased access to cultural enrichment opportunities for one student at the Jordan Community School.
VOLUNTEER:
As your family purchases new school supplies and prepares for the upcoming year, we invite you to begin this school year with a mitzvah!
Join us on Sunday, August 25, 2019 between 9:00 am-11:00 am to help organize and pack school supplies
so that students at Jordan Community School can successfully kickoff another school year!
*This mitzvah opportunity takes approx. 20-minutes and is appropriate for all ages and stages.*
