Executive Director, Serane Blatt, FTA
FROM THE DESK OF SERANE BLATT:
My role as the Executive Director is to maintain the finances of the congregation, recruit new members, retain existing members, oversee personnel and manage the overall building and care for its maintenance. The Executive Director works very closely with the President, the Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees. The director also works hand in hand with the Rabbis, Cantor, Director of Education and the Pre School Director.
At North Shore Congregation Israel I am able to expedite these and many other responsibilities with the knowledge that the congregation follows the guidelines of our mission statement and is ever mindful of the tenets of Judaism.
We are a congregation that welcomes all to become a member of its family. We offer subsidies to families needing assistance. We attempt to meet the needs of each demographic population and are forever mindful of the changes in those needs.
My responsibilities are eased knowing that the Board of Trustees is supportive and anxious to reach out to all. Our beautiful synagogue receives loving care and ongoing maintenance from a most dedicated staff. The technology is constantly under surveillance so that we can better communicate with our synagogue family. This website is but one of the ongoing communication devices.
I have served as Executive Director of North Shore Congregation Israel for the past sixteen years and had worked in the same capacity at Temple Judea Mizpah in Skokie, IL for six years. My background includes serving as Outreach Coordinator for the UAHC Great Lakes Region and as Director of Education at Beth El Zedek in Indianapolis, IN.
I have held numerous positions on the National Association of Temple Administrators (NATA) Board. I currently teach Synagogue Management in the Chicago area and for NATA. I have chaired the NATA Education Committee and serve on the committee for NATA’s Fellow in Temple Administration certification.
